Yesterday I wrote in my blog about 18 U.S.C. § 1468 addressing the distribution of obscene material through cable or subscription television.  Then today, I find this fabulous article dealing with exactly this matter.  Tom Brokaw’s broadcast was temporarily interrupted by hardcore pornography.  The airing occurred in Phoenix, but ION Television, which operates the station in Phoenix, is based out of West Palm Beach, FL.  An ION Media Networks spokesperson said they “have launched a rigorous investigation and any implicated employees will face strict disciplinary action and termination.”  According to the US Department of Justice website, a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1468 is punishable by imprisonment for up to 2 years and a fine of up to $250,000.  I can’t wait for the follow up articles to this.

Now, please excuse me while I go laugh myself silly at the idea of Tom Brokaw’s broadcast being interrupted by hardcore pornography.
